2. Employment sponsored
Some seeking a green card don’t have immediate family in the U.S. Thankfully the U.S. recognizes that, and allows other relatively easy ways to earn a green card, like through employment sponsorship.
Sure, any immigrant can be sponsored by his or her employer, but if you are at the top of your field, you may very well sail through the green card process.
“Priority workers” as they’re called are individuals like internationally recognized artists, professional athletes, award-winning scientists, executives or CEOs. If you fall under this category, you likely won’t wait long to gain a visa.
Whether you are a priority worker or not, your employer or sponsor must fill out a I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Workers on your behalf. After which, you must again wait for an available visa number.
